COVID has meant that my daughter is attending community college and living at home, while many of her friends are out on their own for the first time. It also means that she is learning more life skills at this point in her life.
Not that I didn’t try to teach her earlier – we had many sessions with the Girl Scouts where we taught the girls the basics of sewing, cooking, meal planning and finances. But now she’s interested, and we’re going over them again.
So today I’m going to talk about the skills I think everyone should be able to do to be self-sufficient – and why.
