What Is Inner Peace?
What is Inner Peace?
Inner peace is that feeling that rests on us at varied moments in our lives.
It can be called by many names:
- Calmness
- Serenity
- Inner peace
- Centeredness
- Tranquility
- Peace of mind
- Unstressed
Cultivating a sense of inner peace can lead us better through times of stress in our lives. I believe that having inner peace is the opposite of having stress and anxiety.
Our busy modern lives can easily tax and stress us without our being aware of it. Overwork, over-scheduling, overcommitment can all drown out feelings of centeredness and peace. Moving back toward inner peace can make our lives much better.
Key points
There are a few key points to remember about inner peace:
- Inner peace is not “owned” by any one religion or spiritual practice. It can be obtained without religion or spiritual practice.
- The techniques for getting to inner peace are varied; what works for one will not necessarily work for another.
- Inner peace is neither stagnation nor boring. It is merely being free from stress and anxiety.
- Inner peace requires effort. Like any new habit or way of thinking, it must be practiced in order to become habit.
