Time saving gadget…or not…
I am somewhat of a gadget freak. I have had to re-examine my attitudes toward gadgets as I simplify, and really look at new gadgets before I buy. Will I really use it? Will it save me time or money? Will it make my life significantly better? Will it help me simplify? These are all questions that I ask myself consciously every time I see a gadget. Most gadgets do not pass the test.
Something I ran across recently leaves me shaking my head. Even at my worst in gadget-freakiness, I cannot imagine purchasing one of these devices (ext link). A USB plant monitor. Plug it in, and it will tell you if your plant needs water. Hmmm.
Apparently I am very behind the times. I use my finger. I stick it in the soil, and if the soil is dry, then the plant needs water. If it’s wet, it doesn’t.
I really think the article that pointed out this device really does a good job of summarizing: The Worsted Witch ? PlantSense or Nonsense?
