Simplifying Dinner: Four Tips to Simplify Purchasing

There are many ways to streamline your grocery shopping. Things to be taken into account are how many stores you go to, when you go, when they restock the stores and how much you buy.

Limit the Number of Stores You Go To

Don’t run from store to store looking for the best deal. The amount of time you spend, not to mention auto fuel, does not make this pay. Find a grocery store that has everything, or nearly so, that you buy. Save the warehouse runs for once a month.

Shop At Off Times

Unless you like being in crowded stores, don’t grocery shop on a weekend afternoon. If at all possible, shop in the early morning or late evening. You will save yourself time and frustration.

Shop After Restocking

Nothing is more frustrating that shopping in a store the day before they receive their weekly shipments. You will have a hard time finding things like milk, and many of the items on special will be gone. Find out when your store restocks those items you need most and shop accordingly.

Buy What You Will Use

For some items, consider buying what you will use and freezing. I routinely buy extra bread and milk and put it in the freezer for later use.

The Really Simple Way To Buy

Have someone grocery shop for you. No, I’m not kidding. Most major metropolitan areas have services that will do this. For those that don’t, some grocery stores will pull your order for you for a small fee. Or do what I do and hire a personal shopper. It is worth the saved time and aggravation to pay someone who enjoys grocery shopping to do it for you.
