Hidden Clutter: Medicine Cabinet
Hidden clutter is the stuff that we see so often we stop seeing it. Finding it requires actually looking at things with conscious intent. From time to time I will present an area in your life that probably contains hidden clutter.
I ran across this mess of hidden clutter recently. My child brought home the latest version of the creeping crud, and I caught it full on. It was a simple cold, with congestion and, given my tendencies, settled into my chest.
Two days into the cold, I went looking for my preferred method of treatment. I opened up the medicine chest, and beheld something I hadn’t really seen: it was packed full of expired medicine, both over the counter and prescription. It was time to go to work.
When the dust settled, I had cleaned out four bottles of expired cold-and-cough, one bottle of prescription cough medicine, two bags of cough drops over two years old (ick!), a bottle of infant pain reliever, eye drops, and most absurdly, a prescription salve for one of the cats for a condition so long ago I can’t even remember what it was.
Left in the cabinet was aspirin, Excedrin, decongestant, acetaminophen, current menthol cough drops, and the thermometers for the family.
So what’s in your medicine chest?
