Overview
This is one of those books that I picked up by browsing our library’s card catalog. It was a quick and simple read, with concrete steps on how to simplify your life in many areas. Each chapter has text about the benefits of simplifying in the area, as well as practical tips. At the end of each chapter is a checklist of steps you can take, followed by a “for serious simplifiers” section.
I really liked this book. Although I thought I was fairly simplified, I was able to apply their techniques out of the box and simplify even further. For example, Day 1 talks about filling a bag and removing it from the house. I did this for 7 days, and filled my trunk with items for the thrift store. I didn’t think I had anything else left that was unused! I liked the approach that they took, namely to take what you like and skip the rest. They pointed out there are several types of simplifiers and simplicity means different things to each type.
