8 Simple Pleasures

One of the easiest ways to feel more contented is to list the reasons you have to be thankful. Call it a gratitude list, counting your blessings, or simple pleasures, making a list will bring more peace into your life.

8 Simple Pleasures

Coffee

I love a good cup of coffee. I particularly like having a cup of coffee that has been brewed and waiting for me coming downstairs.

Breakfast

I am a breakfast eater. I love all sorts of breakfast food. Today I was pleased by the cereal and milk with berries.

Dogs

I am not a dog person. But I have come to enjoy the stubborn beagle who made her home with us about a year ago. I love watching her sniff all around the yard, while ignoring the rabbits that sit within ten feet of her.

Cats

I am a cat person. My two cats keep me company in the morning, making sure I get out the door (although I have suspicions of why they want me out of the house). They will cuddle with me and make sure I don’t take myself too seriously.

Football

This is one of the latter pleasures of my life. I tried for years to understand and enjoy football. It took three years in a fantasy football league for me to look forward to Sunday afternoons in front of the TV, watching the games. (I still don’t understand all of it, though).

Lazy Weekend Afternoons

I like being un-scheduled. It doesn’t happen very often, but I am making it a point not to schedule my weekend days anymore. I have a very limited amount of things I need to get done, and plenty of time to nap, read and relax.

Autumn

I like autumn best of all seasons. When the weather turns cool, I like being out, smelling the scents of decay. I like raking leaves, and seeing the colors all around me.

Banana Bread

I like the smell of banana bread baking. It’s an easy recipe, too, so it doesn’t take me very long.

What is on Your List?

The list above was compiled very quickly on a Sunday afternoon on my sofa. I feel much more at peace than I did ten minutes ago.

What is on your list? Take two minutes and make a quick one. See how you feel afterward.
